Home Made Laundry Detergent is one of the first steps to living natural and enjoying a healthier home. It is easy to make and costs less than those conventional detergents on the store shelf. Most conventional laundry soap is full of nasty chemicals and fake fragrances. In fact, the laundry room can be one of the most toxic rooms in your home. So ditch the store bought brand (and those dryer sheets) and start using laundry detergent that works and is not harmful to you, your family and mother earth!
Here is an easy recipe for Natural Living Laundry Detergent.
In a large bowl mix together:
- 2 cups of Borax (I use “20 Mule Team” can be found at most stores)
- 2 cups of washing soda (I use “Arm & Hammer) sometimes hard to find in conventional stores, try a health food store or you can order with Amazon
- 10 drops of doTERRA “Purify” essential oil.
Mix thoroughly and store in a covered container, preferably glass. I use about 1/4-1/2 cup per load. Now you will have fresh smelling clothes that are not full of fake fragrances and toxins! A bonus is to hang your laundry outside and let the sun and wind dry them “naturally”. Ummmmmm, there’s just about nothing that smells better than fresh laundry (except perhaps baking bread!).
